The Roaring Years - 14/08/09
Finally got the Roaring Years pix processed. Thank you for your patience Rostas. Great show. The Roaring Years (Previously known as Dirty Pink Jeans) performed their final show at the Cambridge Hotel back in August. The boys are all moving on to other projects. Gonna miss 'em!

Aleks & the Ramps
Caught the lovely kids from Aleks & the Ramps at the Hopetoun in Surry Hills on Saturday playing with their mate Mixylodian from Montreal, Canada. One of the most fun gigs I've been to for some time. They were sweet, then fun, then jumping around and then performing dance routines in the crowd. Smiles aplenty and despite the cosyness of the Hopetoun, plenty of people busting a move. Smiles all round.

Screamfeeder
Shot Screamfeeder at the Annandale on Saturday night. They played the entirety of their 1996 album "Kitten Licks" Great crowd and their was a genuine sense of the 1990's living on, beyond post-whatever that seems to flood the radio waves these days. Certainly a night to remember.

Ghost Cat
Since my unexpected and swift unemployment, I'm really getting somewhere with developing my shots. Ghost Cat are a great live band if you happen to catch them out and about.
Some secret squirell happenings in the next couple days.

I Like Cats
I'm slowly trawling through the masses of images on my computer, determined to finish all my half started projects. Expect a few dated images to pop up in the next couple of weeks.

Good Vibrations 2009
I had a moment of excellent luck when due to rain, 2 friends opted out of shooting the Good Vibes Festival in Moore Park. Voila, I got in on the acton with half an hours notice. Most of the pix are up from the festival so feel welcome to have a squiz on my flickr.

Two Glowing Macs
I'm idealess at the moment and as a result have turned to too much boozing and partying. I'm here to declare that I'm taking the weekend off from the world and going to pursue somthing a little more worthwhile and fufilling. My father has been actively protesting the redevelopement of the Surf House on Merewether beach and rather than getting on the piss and wasting my Sunday on the couch under the weight of my hangover, I will be heading to Newcastle to help set up an online petition, social networking groups, t-shirt designs and various reading materials. On Sunday, My Father and I will be collecting signatures and distributing flyers about the redevelopment plans and raising awareness of what this will mean for Merewether Beach.
The Newcastle City Council has proposed an "Entertainment Quarter", a place which would entail a restaurant, bar, cafe and various shops. This would increase traffic to the beach, increase the impact of humans on the natual environment (including what remains of the dunes) and parking meters would be introduced to produce revenue for the already insufficient parking spaces.
The introduction of a hotel, bar and cafe would increase vermin levels and the level of broken glass on the beach. The beach already suffers the drunks from the Beach Hotel up the road. An additional drinking establishment along the promenade would only increase the likelihood of injury to all patrons of the beach, including numerous young children who, like I did as a child, come here for long unforgettable summers.
I believe that Novocastrians don't want Merewether to become like every Sydney beach. We need to retain our Identity as a coastal city.

Luci & Cindy go to church
These lovely critters came to visit me when I had just moved into the Church. And proceeded to perform home made dance routines in my living room (Which was practically a dance hall at the time)
My head has a hurt from beer and chardonnay. I'm heading to Ma & Pa's tonight for 5 days of Christmas joy and a well deserved rest after the 6.5 days a week I've been working since the 1st of November. "Don't worry, Manny will pick it up" "No he won't, He's on holiday. He'll be in bed, watching the test match, eating tiramisu with a long spoon".

The Hollywood Hotel
Forgive the absentee-ism, been in hibernation to prepare myself for the stupid season. Had a cheeky late nighter last night at the Hollywood Hotel and by serendipity caught "The Men from Uncle" in action. What sheer delight. I would have stayed longer if I could still smoke in the Hollywood. I hope to post pix when I get my arse into gear, got so much dev to do.
